現場ではたらく人にとって、熱中症対策は最重要タスク。
毎年7月がピークを迎えるが、1年で一番最初に救急搬送が報告されるのが5月。
まだ暑さに慣れていない時が、もっとも注意しなければいけないタイミングなのだ。
水分補給が大切であり、何を飲むか、いつ飲むかなど気をつかっている人も多いだろう。
活動を始めて汗をかき始めてから水分を補給していたのでは遅い。
なぜなら、汗で体内へ発散される汗の量は、水分補給をして胃から吸収される水の量を上回るからだ。
30分で発汗により失われるのはおよそ150〜500ml、水を飲んで胃から吸収されるのは150〜200ml。
場合によっては補給している水分の2倍量の水分が、失われていることになる。
つまり、活動をする前、時間的には4時間前からの水分補給が重要である。
水分補給とは何も水やスポーツドリンクからでなくても良い。
食事も立派な水分補給である。
日常的に汗をかく現場ではたらく人であれば、活動する前の朝、休憩を挟む昼、疲労を回復して次の日に備える夜、と3食しっかり食事を摂ることが水分を体に保持することに繋がる。
食事もコンディションを整えるためのものと捉えて、仕事のパフォーマンスをアップしよう。
